BRIAN VICKERS , NO. 25 GMAC CHEVROLET MONTE CARLO - POLE WINNER - POST QUALIFYING PRESS CONFERENCE:

(ON HIS QUALIFYING RUN) "Well it was obviously a pretty good one. I'm real proud of this GMAC Chevy team. They've done such a good job. We really focused on race team - like most people did yesterday in practice. We didn't even get a chance to really make a qualifying run. The one we did, we got hemmed up in traffic and then we spent the rest of it scuffing tires. I knew we had a good race car. I didn't anticipate it being quite this good for qualifying, but I'm very proud of the guys and of everything they've done."

(YOU AND KYLE BUSCH ARE KNOCKING ON THE DOOR TO GET WIN. IS THAT FRUSTRATING OR IS IT GRATIFYING TO BE SO CLOSE?) "That's an excellent questions. I've raced in a lot of different series in the past 14 years and you feel like you always run into the same thing. The closer you get to the win, the harder it seems to get. But one guy told me one time - a manufacturer I drove for - said no matter what happens at the end of the race, if you run good, and they know you were there and you lead the most laps, you can't walk away with your head down. I think that's the mentality we try to take this year. Yeah, it can get frustrating. With some of the struggles we went through as a team last year, to be running this good week in and week out, no matter what happens, is good. Whether we get caught - in an accident on pit road at Daytona, we blew a tire at Michigan, and in all these races we've had good cars. We can't leave with our heads down. I'm so proud of this team right now. The win is close. Another thing that I've realized is that that win - even in the Busch Series for instance - I wanted it to come so many places and I felt like it came a lot later than I wanted it to. We came so close for so many times, but for whatever reason everything seems to work out for a reason. And when we finally did get that win, it was very special. And there is something I don't want to go into, but it had a very personal reason that it was special to me that it happened to me at that track."
