Nemechek Looking for More New Hampshire Magic
LOUDON, N.H. (June 26, 2007) -- New Hampshire International Speedway couldn't come at a better time for Joe Nemechek, who has established a special relationship with the 1.058-mile oval. The Ginn Racing driver is banking on his past success at the New England facility to get his No. 13 team in contending form for Sunday's LENOX Industrial Tools 300.
"I feel very confident every time I enter the grounds at New Hampshire," said Nemechek. "When you win at a track, you always feel you can do it again. And no matter how many times I have competed at New Hampshire since winning there, my high confidence level has never wavered."
Known as the Magic Mile, New Hampshire International Speedway was the site of Nemechek's first Cup win in September 1999. He also posted a runner-up finish at NHIS in July 2000 and claimed a Busch Series race there, defeating Dale Earnhardt Sr. in a hotly contested 1992 duel.
"I just feel comfortable at New Hampshire," offered Nemechek. "This will be a great opportunity for us to turn the tide this weekend. We have not had good finishing results the past two weekends in Michigan (30th) and Sonoma (38th). I will be looking for some on Sunday."
In last year's summer race at NHIS, Nemechek was running solidly in the top five before getting collected in an accident on Lap 201 of 300.
"We were struggling going into New Hampshire last year and made a nice rebound before I got caught up in a wreck," explained Nemechek. "Hopefully New Hampshire will once again give us the right medicine to overturn our recent problems."
"We're not that far off," added Nemechek. "It's the little things which have been hurting us. We just need to get on a roll, and once we do, I am confident that we will stay there."
