KURT BUSCH (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger) Finished 6th
"It was a fight. We had a good car. We were a top-five car. You could have thrown a blanket over the five that finished up front. It just was a matter of which sequence came through. What hurt us the most was the accident on pit road and that put us on the right sequence. So we were good after that. We just didn't make good adjustments at the end; lost the handle on the Miller Lite Dodge. If there had been no debris cautions, we would have finished second. It was tough, a hard-fought battle all day. The Miller Lite Dodge was good and then it was bad. We just lost the handle at the end. We could have finished second, but the last debris caution and all those cautions at the end. Our car was no good on restarts."
WHAT HAPPENED ON PIT ROAD WHEN YOU MADE CONTACT WITH THE NO. 6? "A fuel only stop. It happens every time. Fuel only stops put everybody in jeopardy. I just didn't see him. It happened at the last minute. We're trying to run for a Chase and I just pulled out and the 6 (David Ragan) was pulling in. It put us on the right cycle. I don't know how the damage affected it, but the car was definitely off after that."
PAT TRYSON (Crew Chief, No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger)
"We had a good Miller Lite Dodge today. It just came down to us pitting that one time and we took fuel only and got damage on the right-front fender when we hit the 6 car on pit exit. We made one adjustment on that long run there that probably made the car too free for the yellow flag runs. Overall, it was a good run for us. It was a good way to start the Chase off. We're still in this thing in the big picture of things. We just need to keep getting better and head to Dover and try to have another run."
ELLIOTT SADLER (No. 19 Stanley Dodge Charger) Finished 8th
"We made wholesale changes from last night that really helped our Stanley Dodge. This race was very gratifying for everyone on this team. It was a good run for us. We learned some things today that really helped our car. We found some things that I like to have in the racecar that we can build from here on out. Hopefully we can build on that for the final nine races.
AJ ALLMENDINGER (No. 44 Berlin Auto Dodge Charger) Finished 25th
"Very disappointed. I thought we had a top-10 car, but the No. 47 just wrecked us. Our car was really good on long runs. Richard Petty Motorsports guys gave me a great car today. I'm upset right now with how it ended, but I'm seeing progress each week."
DAVID STREMME (No. 12 Penske Racing Dodge Charger) Finished 28th
"It was a little bit of a frustrating day for us today. We got spun out and we never got the car fixed. That cost us a lot of speed. We had to come back into the pits and that cost us a lot of time that we could never get back. We ended up going down two laps and that really cost what looked to be a pretty good day early in our Penske Dodge."
SAM HORNISH, JR (No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger) Finished 37th
"It looks like we broke a piston. We never have had any problems this year with our R6 engines. Today, we just had a hiccup. The car was pretty good. It wasn't as good as it was here in the spring, but I think we had a top-10 car. It's just frustrating for all the Mobil 1 Dodge guys."
REED SORENSON (No. 43 McDonald's McCafe Dodge Charger) Finished 36th
"We're pretty disappointed. We started off slow, but got going pretty good. We had to go to the back of the field to fix some overheating issues and then got caught up in someone else's stuff. We were just in the wrong place at the wrong time."
KASEY KAHNE (No. 9 Budweiser Dodge Charger) Finished 38th
"We lost an engine, I don't know why. I felt it start to run a little bit rough down the backstretch and it broke on the frontstretch. I thought that it was coming, the gauges all looked good, but I knew that it was coming.
"We had a good car. I think we were up to eighth or ninth. It seemed like our Budweiser Dodge was decent. We had some things to do to make it better."
HOW DISAPPOINTING IS THIS FOR YOU? "It's disappointing. It's better than last week because we wouldn't have been in the Chase. We just have to work extra hard now. I don't know how this all works. You never know in the Chase if you can have a mulligan or not. This team is doing a nice job. We'll be 12th when we leave here. Hopefully, we can make gains in those final nine (races)."
