After starting the weekend with an appearance at Hershey Park in Hershey Penn., Mike Skinner looked to add to his run of finishing 12th or better in the last four races at Pocono. However, with track problems wiping out Friday's events, the team struggled to find the right car-driver combination on Saturday.

By Sunday morning, everything possible was changed to improve the attitude of the car on the 2.5 mile track. Once the race began, the car was loose to drive. Each pit stop offered improvement to the Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo.

On Lap 142, the engine expired. It let go as Skinner entered the Long Pond turn.

Heading into Michigan, Skinner's best start at Michigan International Speedway is third, one year ago (6-10-01). His best finish at the 2 mile oval is 16th (8-20-00).

Mike Skinner quotes "We missed the set-up on this particular car. It hurt us some to miss practice time on Friday, because of track conditions. Chris Carrier and all of us put our heads together and changed everything on the car Sunday morning.

"The car was wrecking loose at the start of the race. Chris and guys kept making adjustments in the pits and it was getting better to drive.

"Going into the Long Pond turn, the motor let go. It just blew. We got caught up in our own oil and slipped into the wall."
