There's No Place Like Home

"There's no place like home", a famous line from "The Wizard of Oz", holds true for Kevin Lepage. As the driver of the No. 4 KODAK MAX Film Monte Carlo, Lepage, a Shelburne, Vt., native, will return to his roots in the upcoming New England 300.

The event, which will take place at the New Hampshire International Speedway on Sunday, is only a hop and skip from the former NASCAR Busch North Series competitor's home. Although Lepage and his wife Donna moved their official residence "down South" to Moorseville, N.C. years ago, they have strong family and emotional ties to New England.

"It is an exciting time of year for us to be able to return home in the middle of a real busy schedule," Lepage said. "We get to go home during the holidays and then twice a year when the Cup Series visits New Hampshire.

"We fly up to Vermont a day early and visit with family. They are able to visit us at the track and that is pretty cool. We will have dinner at the motor coach for them one night. It is just a real good time.

"New Hampshire is a special track to me. I just have always remembered my heritage. The New England fans are very loyal. There will be fans in the stands that have followed my career since the beginning," the 39-year-old said. "When we have autograph sessions in the area, it makes me realize how fortunate I have been . It is a humbling experience.

"I am really excited about competing for the first time at New Hampshire with Morgan-McClure. We are taking a brand new race car. Scott Eggleston, our crew chief, and the entire Kodak crew have worked extra long hours to set-up these new cars. Scott is really confident about our chances for a good run. Hopefully, we can get the monkey off of our backs and get down to business. The most unlikely things seem to prevent us from having decent finishes," Lepage states.

"A win anywhere would be special to me and the entire Morgan-McClure team right now. But a win at New Hampshire would be extra special to me. It would be the best." <pre> Kevin Lepage stats at New Hampshire 09/17/2000 32 38 07/09/2000 28 31 09/19/1999 4 26--best start at New Hampshire 07/11/1999 42 22 08/30/1998 33 16--best finish at New Hampshire
