Robinson has her sights set on Las Vegas
Charlotte, NC (February 26, 2002) Shawna Robinson heads to Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend looking to bring her Winston Cup team more of the success she had at Daytona two weeks ago. Las Vegas has a famous reputation for making people either winners or losers and for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series this weekend things will not be any different.
Robinson has her eye set on Vegas and hopes lucky #49 will hit the jackpot on Sunday. "Las Vegas is a fun race track and I enjoy racing out West. We are taking a new car to Las Vegas this weekend and I have high expectations for this team. We didn't get the finish we deserved in Daytona but we ran inside the top-30 for most of the day before I ran out of fuel and broke a drive shaft. We are going to Vegas this weekend with our sights set on a good finish."
Robinson also stated she is happy to see NASCAR constantly pursuing new markets to visit. "It is great to see the fan support NASCAR has nationwide, "said Robinson. "The growth of NASCAR has been able to attract big name sponsors because we visit markets throughout the United States. NASCAR has diversified the race schedule and sponsors have benefited greatly. Our racing is competitive because of the engineering but NASCAR has achieved success partly because of their marketing efforts."
"We chose not to go to Rockingham and I can guarantee you we've been focusing on making this team consistent. I know this No. 49 Dodge team is capable of running up front and our goal for the rest of 2002 is to make this team competitive at every track," said Robinson.
"Team work has been a big part of the success we have shared in the one race we have worked together, said driver Shawna Robinson. "The guys work so hard at the shop week in and week out. The No. 49 BAM Racing team has overcome a few setbacks, and we still finished in the top-25 at Daytona. That says a lot about the guys. We have come into this with a winning mentality and I know the best is yet to come."
