LAS VEGAS (March 7, 2004)--Scott Riggs finished 29th in Sunday's UAW-Daimler-Chrysler 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Riggs, behind the wheel of the No. 10 Valvoline Chevrolet, hoped his 15th-place qualifying effort two days earlier would be the first step to a solid finish in the 267-lap, 400-mile race.

However, when the green-flag dropped over the 1.5-mile asphalt oval, Riggs found himself handling a tight machine and dropping through the 43-car field.

"We could never get the Valvoline Chevrolet where we wanted it," Riggs said. "We felt like we threw everything at it, but the car just wouldn't cooperate. This was just another tough, frustrating weekend.

"Back to the books. We'll go back and figure out what the problem was and consider it part of our learning curve. No one here is ready to give up-- we know what we're capable of."

Matt Kenseth beat Kasey Kahne across the finish line to pick up his second consecutive victory. Tony Stewart, Jamie McMurray and Mark Martin rounded out the top-five.

The NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series travels to Atlanta next weekend for the Golden Corral 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
