LAS VEGAS (March 7, 2004) -- Joe Nemechek had his sights on a top-10 result in Sunday's UAW-DaimlerChrysler 400.But severe handling problems with his USG Sheetrock Brand Chevrolet during the final 60-lap green flag run dropped the veteran driver to a 19th-place finish.

When the 267-lap event was restarted for the final time at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Nemechek was running 12th and moving to the front.

"It was going our way, but that last run spoiled a good day for us," said Nemechek. "We thought we had a chance at the top 10, but the car's handling changed at the end and it was a handful to drive. We missed the setup a little and that's all it takesdue the sensitivity of these cars. It was frustrating because we know we can be so much better."

Nemechek, who started 38th, came out of the gate quickly, picking off positions in his colorful USG Sheetrock/Army Chevy.

"The car was good and the pit stops were excellent," explained Nemechek. "We did a lot of things right leading up to that last run. It's just unfortunate that we weren't able to produce a better finish."

After three races Nemechek is 13th in the driver standings, 20 points out of tenth.
