Larson leads second Cup practice at Chicagoland

Larson’s lap of 185.995mph early in the exercise held up during the 55-minute session.

Fellow Chasers Kurt Busch (185.778mph), Joey Logano (185.211mph), Carl Edwards (185.198mph)and Martin Truex Jr., (185.103) rounded out the top five in single lap runs. Kasey Kahne(185.039mph), Tony Stewart (184.849mph), Alex Bowman Jr. (184.786mph), Austin Dillon (184.710mph) and Ryan Blaney (184.666mph) rounded out the top 10.

Denny Hamlin was 11th among the remaining nine Chase contenders with Chase Elliott 12th, Kyle Busch 13th, Kevin Harvick 16th, Jimmie Johnson 17th and Chris Buescher 18th. Jamie McMurray was 21st followed by Denny Hamlin (23rd) and Brad Keselowski (25th).

Ryan Newman’s 47 laps were the most completed among Cup drivers during the second session.

Harvick led the Best 10 Consecutive Lap Average with a speed of 182.520mph, followed by Johnson (181.921mph), Kenseth (181.646mph), Austin Dillon (181.354mph), Newman (181.156mph), Keselowski (180.347mph), Jamie McMurray (180.138mph), Elliott (179.136mph), Casey Mears (179.068mph) and Larson (178.823mph). Other Chasers posting 10-lap runs included Truex (178.681mph), Kyle Busch (178.168mph) and Stewart (176.194mph).
