Why Kyle Larson deserves his second chance in a cancel culture
“You can’t hear me? Hey n*****” Those fateful words uttered by Kyle Larson, spoken into his esports headset on April 12, were directed at his sim racing spotter – but instead they quickly became amplified around the world via social media, including his own Twitch stream.
In a split-second, Kyle Larson, NASCAR’s rising star, just became Kyle Larson, toxic N-word-using racist in a cancel culture.
It led to the 28-year-old, six-time NASCAR Cup Series race winner’s professional world collapsing around him. His team, Ganassi Racing, immediately suspended him. Then sanctioning body NASCAR did likewise.
