Nothing Compares to Dover
Kvapil has 11 Cup Series starts at Dover. His best finish is 11th place, which he scored in 2011. He has three top-fives and four top-10s in seven Truck Series starts. In 2007, he achieved his best finish, third place.
Comments from BK Racing Driver Travis Kvapil heading into Dover:
"Obviously Dover's a concrete, high-banked, one-mile oval. It's one of the most unique tracks we go to. There's not any other place on the Sprint Cup schedule that compares to it. The setup we bring there is unique to itself. You can take some ideas from Bristol. It's another high-banked, concrete track, but it's only a half-mile oval. The speeds are a lot slower there, so there's only so much data that transfers.
"Our first race at Dover, I thought we had a good car. I got caught in a wreck early on and tore the car up pretty bad. We still soldiered on and got a top-25. We can take what we learned there and some of the things that we've picked up since then and apply it to this weekend. It seems like the second time around at most tracks has been a lot easier for us. Hopefully we'll have a better starting spot for our car's setup. I think the key is to get a solid, good-handling car and stay out of trouble. That will lead to 400 good laps.
"Of all the tracks we go to, Dover is one of the two or three that just wear you out the most. It really sets you down in the seat hard. The g-forces are working on you pretty good. You're always slammed up against the side of your seat. When you leave there, you feel like you've had a good day's work. It's so fast and so steep and the speeds are so fast, you're up on the wheel and it's physically demanding."
