Kvapil ready for fresh start at Kansas 400

Expecting 'Faster than Ever' Speeds at Newly Paved Track

Statesville, N.C. (October 16, 2012) - It's a new beginning for the Sprint Cup Series at Kansas Speedway. The 1.5-mile track will have a fresh surface and updated banking geometry when the series arrives for Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400. Travis Kvapil, driver of the No. 93 Burger King/Dr Pepper Toyota, drove to a 25th-place finish in his last race at Kansas, but recognizes that this weekend will be a whole new ball game. He hopes the team's past experience at similar tracks will lead to a successful week in the Sunflower State.

Kvapil has seven Cup Series starts at Kansas. He best performance was in 2006, finishing 19th. He's led three Cup Series events at Kansas (2005, 2006, 2011) for a total of five laps. In Camping World Truck Series competition, Kvapil has six starts under his belt. He's achieved four top-10s and one top-five finish.

The No. 93 team finished 25th last weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was one of 12 top-25 finishes that Kvapil has scored this season.

Comments from BK Racing Driver Travis Kvapil heading into Kansas:

"Kansas is going to have a fresh look to it this weekend, so we don't really know what to expect. Obviously it's been repaved. It has different banking, which will change things up for sure. From what I've heard, it kind of compares to Michigan with its grip level. I've also heard that it's similar to Homestead. The banking increases as you go higher up the track. We've just got to go there with an open mind. Luckily we have a couple days of testing before the race weekend. We can work through a bunch of things.

"We're leaning towards a Michigan-type setup. We had a really good race there. Being able to work on the car, test and practice there, that's what allowed us to come up with a good package. Fortunately we'll have a similar schedule for Kansas. Everyone will pretty much be starting from scratch and just guessing what's best until they hit the track. Hopefully we've made some good guesses and can unload close to where we need to be.

"We know there's going to be a ton of grip and the speeds are probably going to be faster than ever there. They've been working rubber into the track, so I wouldn't be surprised if we have some side-by-side racing right from the start."
