Kurt Busch showed no signs of slowing down at Phoenix International Raceway on Saturday.

Busch posted the fastest lap in second practice with a circuit of 139.627 mph which was set on his 22nd lap on the track. Busch also topped the Best Consecutive five (139.26 mph), 10 (138.83 mph) and 15-Lap averages (138.30 mph).

Busch, who tested here last month, told crew chief Tony Gibson following his first lengthy run, “The car feels good with the right front plugged in the way it is. It hasn't been plugged in like this anywhere.”

Carl Edwards was second on the speed chart with a lap of 139.260 mph, set on his 22nd circuit. Kyle Larson (139.152 mph), Kevin Harvick (139.147 mph) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (139.028 mph) rounded out the top five. Earnhardt’s team changed a right front shock during his final run and he reported the car was “tight” at the end of the session.

Polesitter Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., Joey Logano and AJ Allmendinger completed the top 10 in second practice.

Other Chase contenders outside the top 10 included Kyle Busch (13th), Brad Keselowski (14th) and Jeff Gordon (18th).

Hamlin’s 69 laps run was the most by any competitor. Following Busch in the Best Consecutive 5-Lap category was Earnhardt, Edwards, Johnson and Harvick. Johnson was second in the Best 10-Lap with Edwards, Kyle Busch and Hamlin behind. Under Busch in the Best 15-lappers were Johnson, Kyle Busch, Hamlin and Earnhardt.
