Kurt Busch suspended for a week for tirade against reporter

Kurt Busch has let his fabled temper get the best of him again, and this time it will cost him a chance to compete in any NASCAR series this weekend, including the Sprint Cup series event at Pocono and the Camping World Truck Series race at Texas.

Busch was caught on video spewing another profanity-laced tirade at a media member – this time NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass. The veteran reporter asked Busch about an incident that took place on track with Justin Allgaier during Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide race at Dover, and Busch tore into him – not recognizing that there was a video camera right there filing the entire conversation.

Busch had already been on probation owing to a pit road altercation with Ryan Newman’s team at Darlington. The penalty imposed by NASCAR also includes the lengthening of the probationary period until the end of the calendar year. The probation was to end on July 25.

There was no immediate word as to whether the #51 team would put someone else in the Phoenix Racing Chevrolet for this weekend’s event.
