Kurt Busch has no indication of when domestic abuse investigation will be complete

Stewart-Haas Racing's Kurt Busch goes into the 2015 Sprint Cup season with the same team as the previous year for the first time since 2010/2011 with Penske, but most of the discussion around the former champion is actually regarding what's going on off the track. Specifically, the current investigation into claims of domestic abuse filed against Busch by ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll.

"We're close to Day 100 as far as all the proceedings go. Normal situations that happen around these situations take 30 minutes so sometimes preferential treatment can go the wrong way." He later added, "I have no indication of when it will be done."

"We are being patient and we all understand that there is a process we have to respect and the fact that no announcement has come out ... Each day that goes be continues to be good news."

Support from SHR

Kurt has received support from many inside the stock car community, believing he is in the right and that the accusations made against him are baseless, making him at ease going into Daytona. "The team with their support has been fantastic, Gene Haas especially. It's amazing to have the comfort level that I have as well as telling them the truth, so it's easy to be here and be pumped up about the season."

Open-wheel aspirations

Kurt is the kind of driver that loves to branch out into other disciplines and challenge himself, but he has yet to have serious talks about pulling the Indy 500/Coke 600 double again, telling reporters, "Haven't talked much about Indy due to all the other extracurricular 'fun.'"

"I really enjoyed myself at the Chili Bowl and watching those midgets at the indoor track with the crowd, and the action that never stopped. I was like man, 'I want to get out there and be a part of that.'"

New 'old-school' crew chief

One thing that has changed team-wise for the driver of the No. 41 is the man sitting on top of the pit box. Towards the end of last year, he and teammate Danica Patrick essentially switched crews.

"Tony Gibson is a great old-school crew chief. We posted an 8.6 average finish together and so, we hope to build on that. Whether its been aero, chassis design, pit crew things, Tony is involved in all areas. It's very easy to communicate with him with his old-school nature. He reminds me a lot of Jimmy Fennig (whom Kurt won his only Sprint Cup title with in 2004).
