Kurt Busch goes to court, calls abuse allegations a 'fabrication'

Kurt Busch has had a very busy offseason after competing in the monza Rally, 25 Hours of Thunderhill, and even the Race of Champions. Unfortunately, he now finds himself in court as an investigation into alleged domestic abuse against his ex-girlfriend continues.

Driscoll takes the stand

Both he and his ex Patricia Driscoll have taken the stand this week, refuting the other's testimony. Patricia took the stand on Tuesday and claimed that Kurt is struggling with alcoholism and depression. She says that the incident took place inside Kurt's motorhome at Dover International Speedway when she showed up to his motorhome, unannounced.

I don't know what he's capable of doing," said Driscoll, who got emotional and irritated, which led to the Family Court commissioner ordering a recess.

Busch denies allegations

Kurt Busch denied her allegations against him, calling it a 'complete fabrication.' Busch explained that he ended the four-year relationship a week prior to the incident. Busch also denied her claims that he is an alcoholic, saying that he has avoided alcohol during race weekends for 15 years.

In his story, Driscoll showed up with her nine-year-old son and refused to leave until Busch would tell the child that the relationship was over. He revealed that he was sleeping and unclothed at the time, eventually attempting to diffuse the situation. "I took my hands and cupped her cheeks," Busch described. "I looked her eye-to-eye and said, 'You have to leave.'"

Motorhome driver gives his take

Busch's motorhome driver Michael Doncheff testified on Wednesday, saying Driscoll had instructed him at the beginning of the year to not bring any alcohol on the RV. Doncheff said he believes Driscoll, but admitted she had also told him several stories he felt were exaggerations.
