MIAMI (Oct. 18, 2000) -- Parents, looking for something exciting -- and free -- to do with your youngsters on Veteran's Day? School will be out on Friday, Nov. 10, and there's no better place to take the family than Homestead-Miami Speedway, for practice and qualifying for the Pennzoil 400 NASCAR racing weekend.
Unreserved grandstand tickets will cost $10 for Lennox Pole Day activities on Friday, Nov. 10, with children 12 and under free when accompanied by a paying adult. As always at Homestead-Miami Speedway, parking is free.
Lennox Pole Day activities include first round qualifying for Sunday's Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Winston Cup race and Saturday's Miami 300, the NASCAR Busch Series finale, plus opening practice for both of NASCAR's premier divisions.
Good seats are available for both weekend races, and may be ordered by calling the ticket office at (305) 230-RACE, by visiting any Ticketmaster Ticket Center, or order online at either www.homesteadmiamispeedway.com or www.ticketmaster.com
The day's activities begin with NASCAR Busch Series qualifying at 8:30 a.m. Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, Tony Stewart and all the NASCAR stars will fire up their stock cars for opening Winston Cup practice at 10:30 a.m. Two-lap qualifying runs to set the field for the Miami 300 begin at 12:30 p.m. The Bud Pole and top 25 positions for the Pennzoil 400 will be on the line in one-lap Winston Cup time trials, which begin at 2 p.m.
"This will be a perfect opportunity for families to enjoy America's fastest-growing sport, for a very reasonable price," said Speedway President Curtis Gray. "This will be one day off from school that they'll remember the rest of the year."
In addition to watching America's greatest racers, children can also enjoy interactive displays, a rock climbing wall, Pepsi Tractivation, and other activities. A variety of food and souvenirs for all the NASCAR stars will also be available.
Tickets for Lennox Pole Day may be reserved by calling (305) 230-RACE, any Ticket Master Ticket Center, or by visiting the official Speedway web site, www.homesteadmiamispeedway.com. Tickets will also be available at the gate.
