Keselowski heads first Pocono practice

Brad Keselowski led two Gibbs cars in the opening practice session of the weekend.

Brad Keselowski led the first Sprint Cup practice session of the weekend, going around the 'Tricky Triangle' in 50.961 seconds.

He did not hold that position for the entire 75 minute practice though. As the session neared its conclusion, many teams transitioned to qualifying trim. Austin Dillon went P1, but was quickly overtaken by Denny Hamlin. Soon after, Keselowski reclaimed the top spot with his own fast lap.

Matt Kenseth ended up second quickest, followed by Hamlin, Dillon, and Kevin Harvick. Kyle Busch is looking for his fourth win in succession this weekend and despite being eighth on the time sheets, he complained of a loose condition. "Pretty loose everywhere - both the entries."

Dale Earnhardt Jr. swept both Pocono races in 2014 and was scored 14th in Friday practice. "It chatters the left front tire real bad - all the corners and it's real loose off. It won't turn in because it's not sealed off. The tunnel turn is smooth as least right now for me it is."

Martin Truex Jr. won the June race here and was 12th today, saying that the team made gains during the 75 minute session.
