Safety has become a major focus on the tracks of the NASCAR circuit. Current Winston Cup points leader Matt Kenseth is doing his part to promote safety off the track.

Kenseth has teamed up with Smirnoff Ice to begin a series of public service announcements to educate the public on the responsible use of alcohol.

Promoting the message, Kenseth ran a special Smirnoff Triple Black paint scheme at the Lowe's Motor Speedway at Charlotte, North Carolina, for the running of The Winston, NASCAR's equivalent to an all-star event.

In conjunction with the sponsorship, television advertising promoting the drink intelligently message will run that feature the new car and driver, Kenseth.

Beth Davies, Director of Brand Public Relations believes that with NASCAR's popularity it creates an ideal partnership to promote the company's message.

"Our partnership with Roush Racing, Matt Kenseth and select NASCAR venues is an excellent opportunity for Smirnoff Ice Triple Black to build strong consumer relationships with adult NASCAR fans. It also provides us with the perfect opportunity to promote responsible consumption of our brands."

The commercials and race sponsorship are timed in conjunction with the Memorial Day holiday.
