Promising Finish for the #00 Dominos.com Toyota Ended by Misfortune

Kansas City, KS -- David Reutimann, driver of the #00 Dominos.com Toyota in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series for Michael Waltrip Racing, finished 31st today in the LifeLock 400 from Kansas Speedway.

David started 25th in the #00 Dominos.com Toyota, and immediately from the drop of the green flag started to maneuver his way to the front -- getting as high as 11th by the halfway point of the race.

"The #00 Dominos.com Toyota was good, especially on longer runs. It was not as fast on the restarts but after about five or six laps it would get faster. I think it was obvious with us running in the top-20 all day long," said David Reutimann."

Unfortunately, a good run was ended on lap 148 when the caution waved for bad weather. The #00 Dominos.com had just pitted for gas when Mother Nature took control and the rain started to fall -- taking David from 11th to 34th in the running order.

"We were running around 11th or 12th and Frank (Kerr) decided that we needed to come in for gas. Of course, it started to rain and the caution came out, so instead of a top-15 finish we ended up starting back in 34th. This is the kind of luck we have had all season long. I mean, we'll be running top-15 and have something go wrong - it's so disappointing because 31st is definitely not an indication of how the #00 Dominos.com Toyota ran today," said Reutimann."

Once the rain lifted NASCAR (for the second time) flew the green flag again, with David starting right in front of the leader -- on the tail end of the lead lap. Still, the green flag did not stay out long, as the #21 car spun out in turn two, collecting numerous race cars, including David and the #00 Dominos.com Toyota, which capped off a rough and bizarre day at Kansas Speedway for the #00 Dominos.com team.
