Quotes from: DALE EARNHARDT JR. / Driver, #8 Budweiser Chevrolet:
"It has been a really frustrating Chase for us. We've let some solid top-five, top-10 runs slip away. Having the tire go flat on us (at Dover) was bad luck, and to have the caution come out right after that was worse. We're in seventh place, but by no means out of contention. We're coming up on some really, really good tracks for us. We've been fast at Kansas (including a Bud Pole in 2002) but not consistent. Kansas requires a lot of driver discipline. You want to drive the car as hard as you can when you really need to ease it into the corners and find a nice pace. But, I'm confident going into this weekend because we've improved a ton on these big flat tracks like Chicago, Michigan and California. The chassis we're taking has four straight top-six finishes, so we'd like that streak to continue."
On the strength of the team heading into the third race of the Chase: "We're 102 points out, so we need some really good races the next few weeks. We're only 20 percent into the Chase, so I think we can do it. I'm confident in my cars, my equipment, my guys, my motors. I've asked them to step it up this year and everybody stepped it up. I'm driving really hard and trying to be smart at the same time so I think we're a great combination of a driver and team. So much can happen in one race that I know we are still very much a contender for this championship."
This Week's Bud Car: #39 (this chassis has finished fifth at Chicago, third and sixth at Michigan, and second at California) Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the #8 Budweiser team enter race No. 3 of 10 in the Chase for the Championship seventh in the Nextel Cup point standings, 102 points out of the lead. Junior is coming off a 21st-place finish at Dover. On the season, Junior has one win (Richmond), eight top-fives and 12 top-10s. He has led in 12 races for 209 laps.
KANSAS NOTEBOOK ON THE BUD TEAM:

The most recent of Junior's six career Bud Pole Awards came at Kansas Speedway on Sept. 27, 2002.
Dale Jr. has led in three of the five races at Kansas.
This year, the Budweiser team has finished 12th or better in four of the five races at 1.5-mile tracks, most recently garnering a fifth-place finish at Kansas' sister track, Chicagoland Speedway.
