Target Team Facts:
* Pink and proud: The No. 41 Target Dodge will be pink for two more races in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Mears will be driving the special paint scheme this weekend in Kansas and in Martinsville , Va. (October 24th).
With the completion of all 188 laps last weekend in Talladega, the Target Team is well on their way to the $50,000 donation to the BCRF. For every lap completed in each of the three NASCAR races by Mears, and last weekend's IRL race, the Target team will donate up to $50,000.
* Championship Standings: Mears and the Target Team moved up two spots in the NASCAR Nextel Cup standings to 18th after their eighth-place effort at Talladega Superspeedway. Mears tied his career-best finish at a restrictor-place track.
* Chassis: Crew chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target Team are bringing chassis #402 to Kansas Speedway for the Banquet 400. Chassis #402 was most recently run at Michigan, but sat on the pole at Indianapolis and has finished in the top 10 four times already this season.
* Kansas: Mears has just his rookie-season start in the Nextel Cup Series at Kansas Speedway. He qualified 12th in the Target Dodge but battled the handling of the car to finish the day in the 24th position.
Casey Mears Quotes:
On Kansas... "Last week was important to the Target Team," said Mears. "We really needed to get back on track. It was starting to get frustrating for everyone. Hopefully we will carry the momentum with us this weekend to Kansas.
"To be honest, I don't' remember much about Kansas. I know we were pretty fast and struggled with the handling of the car. We finished 24th and at the time that was a good finish for the team. We've come a long way from last year and I can only imagine how we will be next season if we continue to improve the way we have over the final races of this season."
