Carl Edwards on racing at Kansas Speedway:
"I hope we can be as strong as we were at Kansas Speedway last year. That was one of the most exciting races that I've ever been a part of. To me winning the Cup race at Kansas would be the number one memory. Winning there would mean more to me than winning any other race. We're going to go there and give it one hundred percent. I'm real excited about what Sprint is doing with the Victory Junction Camp. I really hope I beat Clint (Bowyer) so that I can be the one that presents the $100,000 check to the Victory Junction Camp. That's going be a good little battle. Clint's a great guy. I can't thank Sprint enough for including me in this border war, the Sprint Stateline Challenge Promotion, to donate money to the Victory Junction Camp. That's cool."
Crew chief Bob Osborne on racing at Kansas Speedway:
"I know how much it would mean to Carl to win at Kansas and we're doing everything we can to help him accomplish that goal. He considers Kansas his home track and will have a lot of family and friends there supporting him. We're taking the same car that finished fourth at MIS in June so we know it's a pretty good car. We've been spending a lot of time at the shop working on ways to make our cars better since we've only got eight races left for a shot at the championship. A win at Kansas would be huge for all of us."
*Carl Edwards enters Kansas 11th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings, 153 markers behind Chase leader Mark Martin. In 28 starts this season, Edwards has accumulated seven top-five and 11 top-10 finishes.
*FOR THE RECORD...Edwards will make his sixth Cup start at Kansas Speedway this weekend. In his previous starts, Edwards has two top-five, and three top-10 finishes. His average start is 21.8 and his average finish is 14th. His best finish (second) came last year.
*HOME TRACK... Edwards is a native of, and currently resides in Columbia, Mo. Only 130 miles away, he considers Kansas Speedway his home track in the Sprint Cup Series.
*THE STATELINE CHALLENGE...To support the new Victory Junction Camp in Kansas, Sprint has created a Stateline Challenge contest between Edwards and Clint Bowyer (who is from Kansas). The driver finishing higher in Sunday's race will have $100,000 presented to Victory Junction in his name by Sprint.
*ON THE TRACK...The Aflac team will be bringing chassis RK-639 to Kansas. Edwards raced this chassis most recently at Michigan in June where he finished fourth. He also raced it at the All-Star Race at Lowe's in May and finished fifth.
*REWIND, KANSAS, September 2008... Edwards raced hard as the laps came to a close trying to catch Jimmie Johnson. On the final lap Edwards dove deep into turn three passing Johnson for the lead. As Edwards washed up the race track, Johnson was able to dive back underneath and pull away for the win leaving Edwards in second place.
