Watkins Glen, NY (August 2, 2002) - Watkins Glen International and Sirius Satellite Radio announced today that Josey Scott, the passionate lead singer of the hard rock band Saliva, will perform the United States and Canadian National Anthems prior to the Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen on Sunday, August 11.
Scott is also featured with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback on the number one hit single "Hero" from The Spider-Man Soundtrack. Saliva's impressive debut album, Every Six Seconds, is a powerful collection of heavy rock, hip-hop and grunge, replete with a soaring, layered musical intensity and heartfelt lyrics that earned this Memphis band rave reviews and huge album sales. Saliva's new album Back Into Your System is schedule for an October 15 release. Saliva can currently be heard on Hard Attack, channel 29, and Octane, channel 21, on Sirius.
Following the national anthem, legendary fan favorite at The Glen, Ernie Irvan will deliver the command to start the engines for the inaugural Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen.
The weekend kicks off with all-star entertainment at Watkins Glen International featuring the sounds of Sirius at the "Rhythm of the Road Tour". The mobile tour features more than 50 listening stations, along with demo vehicles installed with Sirius systems, giving fans a chance to enjoy 100 channels of digital entertainment. During race weekend, Sirius will also broadcast live from its "Rhythm of the Road Tour" located in the Glen's infield. Casey Atwood, driver of the No. 7 Sirius Satellite Radio Dodge Intrepid R/T, will spin tunes and sign autographs for fans at the "Rhythm of the Road Tour" on Saturday, August 10, at 2:30 p.m. at the infield location. Throughout the weekend, Sirius will be also broadcasting over the track public address system.
The 2002 Winston Cup Series takes over The Glen August 8-11 during the Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen weekend featuring premier drivers such as four-time winner and defending champion Jeff Gordon. The excitement starts Friday with the Bully Hill Vineyards 250 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series and is followed by the "Little Trees" 150 presented by Pepsi NASCAR Busch North Series on Saturday.
