BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (12th):
(ON YOUR QUALIFYING LAP) "It was real good. The car had good grip and a good feel to it. It seemed like it was balanced really good, so it was a good lap for us. I screwed up a little bit in three and four on the second lap, but other than that, it was really good.
"For whatever reason - and I think I know what some of those are - we definitely feel better here this weekend. The car feels better and we're seeing things come back. When you make a change, it just kind of comes to life. We made a few changes that really seem to be helping us out right now and that is all good. They're all encouraging points where we've been struggling and haven't been able to find. I know it's just one qualifying attempt, but this is definitely the best we've been on a track this size all year long, I think."
TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (6th):
(ON YOUR RUN) "We're really happy with that. We went two tenths quicker than we did in practice, which realistically is a really good run for us. We don't normally pick up that much. As much as we've all felt like we've been behind the eight-ball lately, the motor department has taken the new manifold - since we have the new template shape to where we can get the manifold under the hood finally - the engine department has worked really hard, trying to get some more horsepower and I think it showing a little bit today. The fab shop - this is one of the bets cars they've ever put out. The guys have just really, really worked hard. Their hard work is kind of paying off and showing for us today."
(DID YOU HAVE MORE GRIP TODAY THAN YOU HAD HERE LAST YEAR?) "Actually, there is a little less grip. Every year the grip will go down a little bit and that will make it better and better for the racing. But, track position is still going to be a very important factor in our race, so getting a good qualifying run like we had today is definitely going to be key for us."
KEN SCHRADER, NO. 36 M&M'S PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (27th):
"We haven't been getting what we want today. We've been fighting it. We've been making gains, but it's just slow. We did what we were supposed to do in qualifying. We ran our fastest lap. They're just slow gains - gains - but slow."
MIKE WALLACE, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX (36th):
"We're really disappointed with that lap because the car is way better than that. I just didn't get the job done when it counted right there. We were a top-25 car in practice and definitely should have been that in qualifying. But, for some reason or another, I just couldn't make it happen there.
"We've got a great race car. The Valvoline Pontiac is really fast. But, for some reason, I didn't get the lap accomplished."
