ROCKINGHAM, NC-(October 24, 1999)--An animated cast of characters will join Johnny Benson and General Mills as they compete in the 1999 NASCAR Winston Cup season finale, the NAPA 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Nov. 21. Along with primary sponsor Cheerios, Johnny Benson's No.26 Ford Taurus will feature "Woody's Roundup," a special paint scheme that marks the arrival of Disney and Pixar's new movie, Toy Story 2, which will over the Thanksgiving holiday. Tom Hanks, the voice of "Woody" and Tim Allen the voice of "Buzz Lightyear," unveiled three special paint schemes this weekend at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. In addition to Benson's No. 26 Cheerios / "Woody's Roundup" Ford Taurus, Kyle Petty will compete in the No. 44 Hot Wheels / "Buzz Lightyear" Pontiac and Bill Elliott will have a cast of Toy Story characters on his No. 94 McDonalds Ford Taurus. To commemorate this special event, General Mills will also feature a mail-in coupon for a Hot Wheels® two pack of collectible Toy Story 2 1:64 scale die-cast cars on 20 oz. packages of Cheerios, Frosted Cheerios and Lucky Charms beginning in November.

"This is the first time Disney has appeared on a Winston Cup car and we are very honored that we are involved," commented Laurie Greeno, Vice President of Motorsports for General Mills. "This is a cooperative effort between Disney, General Mills, Mattel and McDonalds and we are very excited about competing in the season finale with Disney on board and our special die-cast promotions that will be launched in November. We feel that both General Mills and Disney are very family-oriented companies and make a perfect match." Cheerios, Frosted Cheerios and Lucky Charms are products of General Mills, a leading manufacturer and marketer of consumer foods products, with annual sales exceeding $6 billion and sponsor of Johnny Benson's No. 26 Ford Taurus. Major U.S. businesses include Big G cereals; Betty Crocker dessert, side dish and dinner mixes; snack products; Gold Medal flour; and Yoplait and Colombo yogurts.
