NO. 11 FEDEX TOYOTA CAMRY CREW BEST IN THE PITS
Denny Hamlin's Team Voted the Best in Speed, Performance, Precision
by Mechanix Wear for the Second Quarter
Team Presented Quarterly Check at the Brickyard 400
LOS ANGELES (July 25, 2010) - Denny Hamlin's No. 11 FedEx crew has proven that they know what it takes to deliver, performing fast, flawless pit stops each week to keep their driver at the front of the field. Through 19 races, the team has five wins, seven top-five and eight top-10 finishes, and currently sits fourth in the points standings.
That's why the No. 11 FedEx Toyota Camry team from the Joe Gibbs Racing stable won the Mechanix Wear Most Valuable Pit Crew Award for the second quarter - the only authentic competition voted on by crew chiefs. It is the first time the No. 11 team has won the award, which was presented at the Brickyard 400.
"These guys really give it their all every week to make sure we keep the No. 11 FedEx Camry at the front of the field and in a position to win," said crew chief Mike Ford. "We had a great start to this season and now we need to stay focused through the summer, make sure we're in the top 12 and ready for the Chase for the Championship. I'm proud of them for winning the Mechanix Wear award. It's a great testament to their hard work and it will keep them motivated looking forward."
The Mechanix Wear Most Valuable Pit Crew Award is awarded quarterly throughout the NASCAR Sprint Cup season, and the winning pit crew is determined by a vote of each team's crew chief. The four quarterly winning teams take home a $5,000 check and are eligible for the year-end Mechanix Wear Most Valuable Pit Crew Award and a check for $100,000 awarded at the 2010 NASCAR banquet and awards ceremony.
