ATLANTA --- Want to find Porter-Cable driver Jeff Purvis away from the racetrack? The first place to look is a baseball field. Purvis has a passion for baseball and watching his two boys, Thomas and Clay play the sport. On Monday, Purvis, his boys and a couple of friends made the trip to Atlanta for The All-Star Game and Home Run Derby.

Purvis came away from Monday night's Home Run Derby amazed at the power of Chicago Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa.

"Sammy Sosa was a man among boys out there Monday night," Purvis said. "When he hit the ball it looked like he was swinging a golf club at golf balls and the other guys were hitting softballs with a softball bat. The balls just flew off his bat and into the bleachers."

On Tuesday night, the group took in the All-Star Game and watched the American League defeat the National League.

"It was really neat to see all that talent on the field at one time," Purvis said. "The kids had a great time watching players like Chipper Jones, Derek Jeter and Randy Johnson compete. It was really an awesome experience for all of us."

Purvis will now turn his attention away from baseball and onto the Econo Lodge 200 in Nazareth, PA on Sunday. After last week's second place finish in Milwaukee, Purvis is eager to put the Porter-Cable Pontiac into Victory Lane.

"Our race team has improved so much over the last month and a half," Purvis said. "Now I really feel like with Doug Richert calling the shots, we have a chance to win every week."

Purvis will take his best shot Sunday afternoon when the green flag drops on the Econo Lodge 200 at Nazareth Speedway. If Purvis has his way, he will have a car to equal the power of Sammy Sosa and drive away with the winner's trophy Sunday night.
