Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon grabbed the pole for Sunday's Food City 500 at Bristol.The winning pole speed was a lap at 127.216 mph, a new track record. Gordon, who drives the No. 24 Dupont sponsored Chevy, now has 40 career poles, this being his first at Bristol.

Starting alongside on the front row is Richard Childress Racing driver Robby Gordon. Gordon, driver of the Cingular No. 31, lost the pole with only two cars left to qualify. Gordon ran a speed of 126.487 mph

Rounding out the top five are Jeremy Mayfield, Jimmy Spencer and Mike Skinner.

The highest qualifying Ford was that of Matt Kenseth who will start in sixth. Kenseth, driving for Jack Roush, ran a lap time of 126.120mph.
