DEARBORN, Mich., March 9, 2001 - Dale Jarrett won the pole for Sunday's Cracker Barrel 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday, resulting in another $5,000 donation from Ford Credit to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation to help in its mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. It marks Jarrett's second consecutive pole; he also won the pole and finished in Las Vegas last weekend.

"It was a good lap," Jarrett said after going around the 1.54-mile oval in 28.763 seconds (192.748 mph). "This is a brand-new race car and hadn't even seen the outside of our shop until last night, so that just shows how good these guys are. The engine is just incredible." Based on Jarrett's on-track performance, Ford Credit, associate sponsor of the - 88 - UPS Ford Taurus, has donated $17,500 to the Komen Foundation so far this year. Ford Credit gives the Komen Foundation $10,000 for each of Dale's victories, $5,000 for each pole, $7,500 for each second-place finish and $5,000 for each third-place finish over the course of the NASCAR Winston Cup season. Ford Credit has donated $510,000 to the Komen Foundation based on Jarrett's on-track performance and end-of-season bonuses since 1998.

Jarrett is fourth in the NASCAR Winston Cup points standings heading into Sunday's race.
