Yeley steps in for Truex, who will return to Charlotte for further evaluation after suffering a concussion.
BK Racing team owner Ron Devine told Motorsports.com the J.J. Yeley will fill in for Ryan Truex in the No. 83 Toyota at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday.
Truex was injured less than 10 minutes into Saturday morning practice after losing control of his car exiting Turn 2. He was transported to a local Michigan hospital where received a CT Scan and X-rays for his shoulder. Truex has been diagnosed with a concussion following the accident, according to a release from the team.
"The tests look good," Devine said by phone on Saturday. "But they're sending him back to North Carolina for further evaluation. We need to make sure that Ryan is ok.
"We appreciate J.J. Yeley stepping in for Ryan while he recovers. It was hard hit. He still has a slight headache."
Truex qualified 31st for the Pure Michigan 400, however, Yeley will have to start from the rear of the field. Truex has made 19 starts this season. His best finish was 20th at Pocono Raceway two weeks ago. He is currently 37th in the point standings.
