Musgrave ready to roll in the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge.
INDIANAPOLIS, July 31, 2002 - Ted Musgrave, currently third in points in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is ready to attempt his 300th Winston Cup start this weekend in the No. 07 Kenwood/Sirius Dodge at the Brickyard 400 at historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Posting the fifth fastest speed during open practice at the Brickyard, Musgrave feels very good about the race and his potential to take home a good finish for Kenwood and Sirius Satellite Radio.
"We're looking for good things at the Brickyard 400," said Musgrave. "Our test went very well. The guys got the car apart back at the shop trying to get it ready. Right now our goal is to qualify the Kenwood/Sirius Dodge. It's a one-lap deal. The whole world comes down to one lap right now. After we qualify and know we're in the show, then we can start turning things 180 degrees and worrying about what we're going to do for the race."
Musgrave admits that going back and forth between the Craftsman Truck Series and Winston Cup will be a challenge.
"It's like switching between country and hard rock on your radio," added Musgrave. "Each one has a different sound and different rhythm. There will be a bit of a transition going from the Mopar Dodge Ram to the Kenwood/Sirius Dodge Intrepid. Hopefully we'll be able to have a good run, coming from IRP to the Brickyard. We'll be going from one extreme to the next. We should be able to do it. No problem. The car is good enough."
Musgrave returns to the Winston Cup circuit in the midst of a tight points race on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Musgrave, driver of the No. 1 Mopar Performance Parts Dodge Ram, is currently third in points after an engine failure last weekend at the Michigan 200 at Michigan International Speedway. In his first full season in the Craftsman Truck series, Musgrave earned seven wins, 13 top fives and 18 top 10s in 24 races, placing him as runner-up in the 2001 championship points standings in his first season in the No. 1 Mopar Performance Parts Dodge of Ultra Motorsports.
In NASCAR Winston Cup, Musgrave has raced for Rousch Racing, Bessey Motorsports, Ray DeWitt/D.K. Ulrich team and the Butch Mock/Remington Team.
Musgrave will be signing autographs along side Casey Atwood on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Sirius Rhythm of the Road Tour located on 16th Street between Gate 2 and Gate 3.
