Elliott Sadler Geared Up to Hit the Bricks at Indianapolis
Elliott Sadler and the M&M'S team are sixth the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series point standings heading to the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the prestigious Brickyard 400. Sadler's best start at the Brickyard is 13th and his best finish is 21st in 1999. Crew chief Todd Parrott has made the trip to victory lane twice with Robert Yates Racing teammate Dale Jarrett in 1996 and 1999.
QUOTING M&M'S DRIVER ELLIOTT SADLER: "Racing at Indianapolis is the second most prestigious race next to the Daytona 500. It's really important for Robert Yates that his teams run well at the Brickyard and both he and Doug (Yates) are going that extra mile in the motor department to make sure we have a good shot at winning this race.
"Todd has won this race twice with Dale Jarrett so I know I am in good hands when it comes to experience and knowledge of winning at the Brickyard. I have seen what the two Brickyard trophies mean to DJ and his family. They (the trophies) have their special place in his trophy room and symbolize two special moments in his career. I can only hope for the same. If you win at Indy you know you have beaten the best.
"We had a great test there a few weeks ago. We took two cars built especially for Indy and Pocono and they both ran really well. I was happy with how fast our Pocono car was last week and I think the guys are just going to clean up the sheet metal and load the car back on the truck. I'm looking forward to it."
QUOTING M&M'S CREW CHIEF TODD PARROTT: "This team had a great test at Indianapolis last month. We ran a ton of laps and ran really well. Since the car we raced last weekend at Pocono ran so well we are going to take it to Indy this weekend. This race is a race you go to win - not to run second or third. We want to be kissing those bricks when the race is all said and done."
QUOTING M&M'S SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN: "We race at a lot of different style tracks and our spotter's stand is typically the best seat in the house. That's not the case at Indy. We stand on the Pagoda and we can't see a lot. We can't see the front stretch at all and the back stretch is cluttered with trees surrounding the golf course. It's a tough day but a win there would be awesome."
