The Indiana State Police suggests fans arrive early in order to accommodate the traffic flow expected into the Indianapolis area on Race Day. The race starts at 2 p.m. (ET), and fans should arrive at the Marion County line by 10 a.m. to assure seating at the track in time for pre-race activities and start of the race.
Fans planning to drive to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard should heed the following restrictions provided by the Indiana Department of Transportation:
* Interstate 465, in both directions between the I-74/Crawfordsville Road and I-65 exits, will be shifted into narrow lanes sharing the east (northbound) half of the interstate during Accelerate 465 interstate reconstruction and widening. I-65 southbound traffic will also merge into one lane before entering I-465 southbound.
* West 38th Street, in both directions near the I-465 interchange, will be shifted onto one side of the road with narrow lanes and closures of adjacent turn or ramp lanes. Either direction of West 38th Street is now permitted to turn left at nearby intersections with High School Road or Shore Drive.
* I-465 and U.S. 36/Rockville Road interchange will be restricted for interchange reconstruction. U.S. 36/Rockville Road will be restricted to two narrow lanes in each direction with short turn lanes while contractors rebuild the bridge in two phases. The old loop ramps will be closed and the traffic pattern will operate like a diamond interchange, with traffic signals on either end of the I-465 bridge.
Additional traffic information is posted on the City of Indianapolis Department of Public Works Web page at www.indygov.org/eGov/City/DPW/Road/Closings/home.htm.
