CLEVELAND, OHIO (October 1, 1998) --- IMG Motorsports, a division of International Management Group (IMG), announced today the acquisition of Marketing Performance Group (MPG). MPG is a six-year-old company located in the Charlotte (N.C.) area that specializes in marketing and public relations primarily in the motorsports industry.

IMG, founded by Mark H. McCormack in the early 1960's, literally "invented" sports management and marketing. Today the company is the global leader in the field. IMG clients include Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, Andre Agassi, Monica Seles, Chris Evert, Martina Hingis, Peyton Manning, Evander Holyfield, Joe Montana, Derek Jeter, Wayne Gretzky, Scott Hamilton, Kristi Yamaguchi, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, Niki Taylor, Tyra Banks, John Madden and Bob Costas.

Events and leagues managed, marketed or promoted by IMG include Discover Stars On Ice, Wimbledon, the British Open, the US Open, the Women's Tennis Association, the Skins Game, the International Olympic Committee, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, the Nobel Foundation and the Smithsonian.

IMG Motorsports owns and operates three CART races -- IndyCarnival Australia, the Medic Drug Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented By Star Bank and the Grand Prix of Detroit -- and represents 1996 CART Champion Jimmy Vasser, two-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher and other drivers on the CART and F1 circuits.

"This is very exciting for IMG," said Bud Stanner, Senior Corporate Vice President of IMG and President of IMG Motorsports. "This will give us a strategic position in NASCAR racing. Karen Goins-Byrnes and her group have distinguished themselves as a first class operation on the racing scene and we are proud to welcome them into the IMG family."

Marketing Performance Group represents NASCAR Winston Cup programs for U.S. Tobacco/Skoal Bandit Racing with driver Ken Schrader and TEAM TABASCO Racing. In addition, they also handle the limited schedule Winston Cup programs of Buckshot Racing with driver Buckshot Jones and Diamond Ridge Motorsports.

In the NASCAR Busch Series, the company provides public relations services for four clients including, Buckshot Racing (with driver Buckshot Jones), Phillips 66 (with driver Elliott Sadler), Stanley Racing (with driver David Green) and the limited schedule Busch Series program of Oakwood Homes (with driver Ken Schrader).

The company handles a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series program for Purolator (with driver Mike Wallace) and an NHRA Federal-Mogul dragster program for Oakwood Homes (with driver Rick Santos).

Marketing Performance Group is in the fifth year of representation for Stanley, third year for Skoal Bandit Racing and second year for Phillips 66, Buckshot Racing and Diamond Ridge Motorsports.

"This is a great opportunity for our entire staff," said Karen Goins-Byrnes, formerly the president and owner of Marketing Performance Group who will now serve as Director of NASCAR Racing for IMG. "With our NASCAR experience and IMG's global resources, we will be able to provide our NASCAR clients with unparalleled service and opportunities."

The company will now be referred to as IMG Motorsports-Charlotte and will continue managing it's present NASCAR and NHRA clients as well as coordinate all NASCAR involvement for IMG Motorsports. Goins-Byrnes will manage and oversee operations of IMG Motorsports-Charlotte Marketing Performance Group was founded in 1993 by Goins-Byrnes.
