'I don't think my back is ever going to be the same' - Jeff Gordon

Jeff Gordon admits that his back hasn't been the same since the spasms he suffered at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.

While talking to the media at Pocono on Friday, Jeff Gordon stated that he doubts his back will ever be the same since suffering back spasms earlier this year.

The public has known of the 42 year-old's back problems for a few years now. He qualified fifth for Sunday's race, which also happens to be the eve of his 43rd birthday. During practice for the Coca Cola 600 in May, he suffered back spasms which forced him to step out of the car for the rest of practice, although he still participated in the 600 mile event the following night.

While talking to reporters in Pocono, he said “I don’t know exactly what transpired there. I have to be much more careful now."

Gordon then added, “Is it going to flare up again? It could, but I’m just trying to be more cautious."
