CHARLOTTE, NC (November 13, 2008) -- As the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season draws to a close this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Robby Gordon will make his seventh at the 1.5-mile oval. Gordon's No. 7 Dodge Charger will display the familiar red, white, and black Jim Beam primary colors this weekend.
Thoughts on Homestead -- "We need to get a good qualifying run in on Friday, so that we can start towards the front. With the COT, track position has become so valuable that you need to do your best to get and stay up at the front of the pack. With the banking at Homestead, it makes the track very unique. Even though it may look like other intermediate tracks, you have to adjust your setup quite a bit. What works at one track may not work very well here. Starting in the day and ending under the lights adds another variable to the equation. We have built a lot of adjustability into our car for these reasons and expect to have a great result on Sunday," commented Gordon.
Thoughts on the Baja 1000 -- "Even though the Cup season is coming to an end, I am excited that I have opportunities to race in the off-season with the Baja 1000 and the Dakar Rally. The Baja 1000 will take place next Friday in Ensenada, Mexico, and I am really looking forward to it. I pre-run earlier this week, and I think that the team is very prepared for this race. I started a new tradition last year with my Cup team. I take the majority of the team to Mexico so that they can see what off-road racing is all about. I think that it is important that each team help each other out," stated Gordon, driver of the No. 77 Monster Energy / Toyo Tires trophy truck entry.
Appearances -- The driver of the No. 7 Jim Beam Dodge will be making many appearances around the track this weekend. On behalf of Jim Beam, Gordon will appear at Sailfish Landing Liquors on Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The appearance is located at 35202 S Dixie Hwy. Florida City, FL 33034. On Sunday, he will be at his merchandise trailer on Sunday at noon signing autographs for his fans.
