KAHNE, 83 ON HOMESTEAD POLE

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - Only five weeks into his new job, Kasey Kahne won his first pole with Red Bull Racing Team. His 176.904-mph lap topped the scoring tower late in Friday's qualifying session for his fourth pole of the season, second at Homestead-Miami Speedway and 20th of his career.

Earlier in the day, the No. 83 Red Bull Toyota was seventh in the opening practice and Kahne knew he had something for the pole.

"It feels good to be able to have a good weekend. Those guys came down and seemed like they had a lot of confidence and have really done a nice job since we started practice," Kahne said. "We just went out and did the best job we could. We had a good qualifying run and hopefully we can do the same on Sunday."

Kahne's lap gave the team its eighth pole in four Sprint Cup seasons - Brian Vickers won the first in 2008 and six in 2009. It also ensures that a Red Bull Toyota will occupy the front row for a third straight race at Homestead — Scott Speed started second in 2008 and '09.
