Chad McCumbee and the No. 45 Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil Dodge team placed themselves solidly in the field with a 28th place starting spot. Sunday will be McCumbee's sixth Sprint Cup start of 2008, but his first career Sprint Cup start at Homestead. He will also compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the track tonight.

"We didn't practice that well and we weren't sure what we had," said McCumbee. "The track definitely got faster as qualifying went on and that helped a lot. The car had good grip all the way around. Everybody put in a good effort today and we'll need the same effort tomorrow to get dialed in for the race."

Bobby Labonte will start 36th in the Liberty Medical Dodge. Labonte picked up the win in the 2003 version of this race. Statistically, Homestead is a great track for Labonte. He has competed in all three touring series at the track and has garnered one win, four top-five and five top-ten finishes.

"We fought 'loose' in and 'tight' from the center of the corner off all day," sounded Labonte. "I knew coming to the white flag on my qualifying lap that it was going to be 'tight.' We'll work tomorrow to 'loosen' it up off the corner because that's where I'm losing a lot of time. I'm confident we'll get it right tomorrow."
