MIAMI (Sept. 26, 2000) ? One of the biggest names in the automotive parts industry has teamed with one of this country?s premier motorsports facilities to bring an exciting weekend of NASCAR racing action to fans in South Florida. Homestead-Miami Speedway announced today that Discount Auto Parts has been named a presenting sponsor for the Nov. 12 Pennzoil 400 NASCAR Winston Cup event.
The race will now be known as the Pennzoil 400 presented by Discount Auto Parts.

"Our customers are big racing fans, and Discount Auto Parts is thrilled to be associated with Pennzoil and the Homestead Miami Speedway -- one of the greatest racing circuits in the world."
Discount Auto Parts' race team includes sponsorship of Derrick Kelley and Mardy Lindley in the USAR ProCup series and Bobby Childs in the NHRA Super Pro Division. Additionally, Discount Auto Parts is the title sponsor of the Dash race and ARCA race during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway.
The big boys of NASCAR Winston Cup, including Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Dale Jarrett, Mark Martin, Tony Stewart, Rusty Wallace and Bobby Labonte, along with superstar rookies Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Matt Kenseth, will compete in the second annual running of the Pennzoil 400 presented by Discount Auto Parts. The weekend also features the sixth annual Miami 300, the season finale for the NASCAR Busch Series, including the final Busch Series starts of Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin. Race fans can watch NASCAR's top drivers attempt to topple both records on Lennox Qualifying Day, Friday, Nov. 10. The day begins with opening Busch Series practice at 9 a.m., followed by opening Winston Cup practice at 11 a.m. The 43-car field for the Miami 300 will be set in two lap qualifying, beginning at 2:10 p.m. The Winston Cup drivers will take to the track at 3:30 p.m. for one-lap time trials to decide the Bud Pole Award and the top 25 starting positions for the Pennzoil 400.
