Homestead-Miami To Again Host NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Finale in 2005 Ford 400 To Conclude NASCAR Season for Fourth Straight Year

MIAMI, FL (May 14, 2004)- For the fourth consecutive year, NASCAR's premier series, the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, will conclude its season at Homestead-Miami Speedway with the running of the Ford 400, on Sunday, November 20, 2005, NASCAR officials announced Friday.

This fall, Homestead-Miami Speedway will host the third annual Ford Championship Weekend, the season-finales for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series, November 18-21, 2004. The 2004 Ford Championship Weekend will feature the final event of the inaugural Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL CUP Championship on the Speedway's state-of-the-art, 20-degree variable banking. The new championship structure virtually guarantees a multi-car shootout for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series championship on an annual basis at the season-ending Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

"In what is quickly becoming a tradition, we are thrilled that South Florida will be host to the final race of the season for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series for the fourth consecutive year," said Curtis Gray, President Homestead-Miami Speedway. "With some of the world's best racing on the Speedway's 20-degree variable banking, the location of South Florida in November, and the new Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Championship, Ford Championship Weekend continues to emerge as one of the premier events in all of sports."

Defending NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Champion Matt Kenseth agrees that Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway is the ideal site for the season-ending race for the Chase for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Championship.

"The Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway has become the perfect place to conclude the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup championship," said Kenseth. "The new banking makes the racing there very exciting for the fans and the South Florida area provides a great atmosphere for the season-finale. We all look forward to returning to Miami each November."

In accordance with tradition, the 2005 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series schedule will begin with the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday, February 20, 2005. The 2005 NASCAR Busch and Craftsman Truck Series schedules will be released at a later date.

Tickets remain available for the 2004 Ford Championship Weekend, November 18-21 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, but are going fast.

"Considering last year's Ford 400 was a sell-out, we encourage fans to act now and secure their tickets to this year's Ford Championship Weekend before it's too late," added Gray. "With demand at an all-time high, Ford Championship Weekend is turning into one of the toughest tickets in all of South Florida."
