Bobby Hamilton, driver of the Kodak MAX Film Chevrolet, will be strapped into a racing machine for a total of five days this week. The Morgan-McClure Motorsports crew flew to St. Louis on Tuesday morning for a two-day test session. The team hopes to prepare for Richmond, Phoenix and Homestead during the test. Hamilton will compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Richmond International Raceway on Thursday in the No. 4 Dana Dodge. That means he will complete a full day of practice sessions, qualifying and racing before stepping back into the role of Winston Cup driver on Friday and Saturday. Morgan-McClure Motorsports and Hamilton have posted three top-10 finishes in the past five races at RIR. The old fairgrounds site was first tackled by the Nashville, Tenn., native back in 1991. He has started 18 races at the .750-mile oval with eight top-10 finishes and three top-fives. Bobby Hamilton quotes on Richmond "I've said it before, I like night racing. Richmond is my kind of race track, especially at night. The surface is really slick. Slick surfaces on smaller tracks make the racing close and exciting. Something is always going on around the track for the fans to watch. Three wide racing is common there. "It's pretty cool to watch the reflections and colors of other race cars during cautions. The light seems to spark off of the cars. I know it must be really cool watching from the grandstands. "Racing at Richmond tests a driver's skills. It is more in the driver's hands. Setup is important, but racing depends on a driver and not a drafting partner. "The atmosphere around this race reminds me of the good old days racing. It is at an old fairgrounds. It just seems to bring people more to life. The air is usually cooler and people are just in better spirits. Maybe it is the first sign of fall or something.

Larry McClure quotes on Richmond "Richmond is definitely one of my favorite tracks. It is a fan favorite. I'm hoping it will be the breath of fresh air this team needs. "Hamilton is going to run in the truck race on Thursday night. I believe that is good. It gives him more experience on the racing surface and the seal that is on the track. " They took two new cars to St. Louis to test this week. We tried some different combinations on the cars, so we'll just wait and see which one best suits Hamilton. "We normally run good at Richmond. Although with the way this season has been, who knows. I cannot say how disappointed I was with our run at Darlington. Each week this team goes into the track with high expectations, and we leave disappointed. Every week something new to overcome happens. We will be prepared, keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best."
