HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (October 4, 2003) - NetZero HiSpeed and Haas CNC Racing announced today the pair would team up for another season of Winston Cup racing. 2004 will mark the second year of the partnership between the two, and NetZero's fourth season of competition in NASCAR.
"We're looking forward to another year with Gene Haas and Haas CNC Racing," stated Brian Woods, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of NetZero. "Our first year in Winston Cup was definitely a learning experience. There were ups and downs, but through it all we knew we were building for the future. We're looking forward to our sophomore season in this series. Gene Haas has put together a strong team and we couldn't imagine not being a part of its ultimate success. The excitement NASCAR and our association with Haas CNC Racing have brought to our organization and our program is second to none."
The NetZero HiSpeed Racing team came out of the box strong this year, earning a 14th-place finish in the season opening Daytona 500. Following that initial success, the team has put together seven Top-25 finishes in 28 regular season starts. Two fifth-place qualifying efforts (Charlotte, N.C. and Pocono, Penn.) and one sixth-place start in Michigan mark the year's highlights for the team. The revamped organization has come on strong in the final third of the season and driver Jason Leffler has finished in the Top 28 in each of the last five events in which the team has competed.
"We're very happy to have NetZero HiSpeed back on board," said Haas, owner of Haas CNC Racing. "2003 was a more difficult year than anyone could have imagined. The competition in this series is fierce and we made a lot of changes to every aspect of our program to find the best fit. I think the combination we have now, with Jason Leffler, Tony Furr and NetZero HiSpeed is a match to be reckoned with. Everyone involved with Haas CNC Racing appreciates that the leadership at NetZero HiSpeed have been behind us with every twist and turn this year. I see 2004 as a year of great success and can't help but be excited about the possibilities for the future."
