Gordon gearing up for 750th career start this weekend

Jeff Gordon will reach a milestone this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Jeff Gordon will become one of just 11 drivers to ever compete in at least 750 NASCAR Sprint Cup races. He joins HOF'ers and former champions such as Richard Petty, Terry Labonte, Bill Elliott, and Darrell Waltrip in this elite group.

What makes this even more impressive is the fact that all 750 races have come in succession. That's right, Jeff Gordon has not missed a single Cup race since his debut in the 1992 season finale at, of all tracks, Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Gordon has won at this track five times, more than any other full-time driver today. His last victory here came in spectacular fashion in 2011 when he and teammate Jimmie Johnson were embroiled in a head-to-head clash of the titans at the end of the race.
