Martinsville, VA---Time trials for Sunday's $2,168,867, 45th annual Goody's Body Pain 500 NASCAR Winston Cup race gets under way at 3 p.m. Friday at Martinsville Speedway and the qualifying record may very well take a beating. Tony Stewart holds the track and Goody's qualifying record of 95.275 miles per hour. In testing, during the past few weeks several drivers have come close to the record including Rusty Wallace at 95.013. Only the fastest 25 cars will earn starting spots in Friday's Bud Pole qualifying. Starting positions 26 through 36 for the Goody's Body Pain 500 will be determined in second round trials at 12:30 Saturday. Seven provisional starters will complete the 43-car field for Sunday. Sharing the spotlight on Saturday will be the $400,037 NAPA 250 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Time trials for that event will be held at 1:40 p.m. on Friday just before Winston Cup time trials. Mike Bliss holds the NAPA 250 Qualifying Record at 94.275 miles per hour. The NAPA 250 starts at 2 p.m. The past five Craftsman Truck Series races have had different winners beginning with Joe Ruttman, Mike Skinner, Rich Bickle, Jay Sauter and then Jimmy Hensley in 1999. Mike Wallace is currently leading the Craftsman Truck Series point's standings. Among active Winston Cup drivers Darrell Waltrip has 11 Martinsville wins, Dale Earnhardt and Rusty Wallace have six wins each, Geoffrey Bodine has four wins, Ricky Rudd and Jeff Gordon have three victories each, and Dave Marcis, Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, John Andretti and Bobby Hamilton have one win apiece. Admission for Friday's Bud Pole qualifying is $15 for adults with children 12 and under free. Admission for Saturday's NAPA 250 is $30 for adults and tickets for children ages 6-12 are $5. All seats for qualifying and the NAPA 250 are unreserved. The Goody's Body Pain 500 starts at 1 p.m. Sunday. Reserved seats remain for $40-$45 and the family section on the back straightaway goes on sale 7:30 race morning. Tickets in the family section are $40 for adults and $5 for children ages 6-12.
