Minneapolis, Minn. --- General Mills and its Betty Crocker brand are proud to introduce the Betty Crocker Racing Family - a group of women who are involved in the fast-paced sport of racing and have mastered the art of raising a family in a world that moves even faster. Nancy Andretti, Debbie Benson, Kim Burton, Flossie Johnson, Andrea Nemechek, Pattie and Lynda Petty and Stevie Waltrip have teamed with Betty Crocker to recognize the female fan base that often gets misplaced among the batteries and motor oil. "Women are no longer here because their husbands are here," said Laurie Greeno, Vice President of Motorsports. "Women are no longer leaving the room when the race comes on television. They are the ones tuning in and we want to take advantage of that and make our female fans aware that we know they are out there. "We have formed the Betty Crocker Racing Family to become the voice of racing for women." As we race into the millennium, expect to see the Betty Crocker Racing Family and their personal recipes show up on packaging and in television and magazine advertising for such products as Hamburger Helper, Chicken Helper, Tuna Helper, Bisquick, Chex cereal and other quality Betty Crocker products. "Our sport has seen such tremendous growth it is a natural progression that more and more women would be attracted to racing," said Patti Petty, wife of Winston Cup driver Kyle Petty and mother of Busch Series driver Adam. "I feel very honored to be a part of this great group of women. Every family is running in so many different directions nowadays, I think each one of us can relate to how difficult it is to spend time together as a family. It takes more planning than ever. "I think what we can do as the Betty Crocker Racing Family is show women throughout the country that we understand how valuable this time is and maybe some of the best quality family time you can have is watching the race together."
