Tony Furr takes over Crew Chief Duties for Haas CNC Racing

CONCORD, NC-- Starting with this weekend's race in Martinsville, Tony Furr will replace Dennis Connor as crew chief on the #0 NetZero Pontiac driven by NASCAR Winston Cup Series rookie Jack Sprague.

"I'm confident that I can build on this great foundation laid here before me at Haas CNC Racing," said Furr. "The job will be easier knowing I have the support of Gene Haas and NetZero. I'm excited about our future."

General Manager Joe Custer said he looks forward to the successes Tony's abilities and experience will bring to the whole Haas CNC team--on the road and in the shop.

Furr comes to Haas CNC Racing with over 25 years of racing experience. His earliest years in racing were spent around Concord Motor Speedway in Concord, NC where his father, Henry, was operator from 1972 to 1997. When Furr hit his teenage years he started building NASCAR Late Model

Sportsman cars for many well-known drivers such as Ernie Irvan and the late Dale Earnhardt. His work under the hood then went into the role of car owner where he racked up six consecutive track championships.

Furr's spot atop the NetZero pit box on Sunday will mark the sixth time he has fulfilled the role of crew chief in NASCAR's highest division. He started his climb to success in 1989 as crew chief for Close Racing. Two years later he was working as a car chief with Hendrick Motorsports only to return in 1998 as crew chief to Jerry Nadeau and the #25 team. Other teams in which Furr has called the shots on Sunday include Jasper Motorsports, Nemco Motorsports, Cale Yarborough's operation, and Ultra Motorsports. Furr most recently worked as a manager with Morgan McClure Motorsports.
