Ryan Newman was left with a mangled car after contact with A.J. Allmendinger in the closing laps at Pocono.
The eighth and final caution of this past weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Pocono occurred when Ryan Newman went spinning into the Turn 1 wall, off the nose of A.J. Allmendinger. Just 18 laps remained in the 400-miler.
The two were battling over seventh position when contact was made, sending the RCR driver backwards into the barrier. Both drivers made the 2014 Chase, but have yet to solidify their place in NASCAR's 2015 postseason.
“It’s pretty obvious what happened,” Newman said after the incident. “(Allmendinger) just ran out of talent. He has got one coming now.”
The JTG driver took full responsibility for the wreck.
Both failed to finish the race, placing 38th and 39th in the final standings.
