Robinson sets her sights on Texas.
Charlotte, NC (April 4, 2002) The NASCAR Winston Cup Series stages its 7th event of the season with the Samsung/Radio Shack 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. Shawna Robinson and the No. 49BAM Racing Dodge team are charged up for a high voltage performance.
Robinson debut at Texas came in the 2001 NASCAR Busch Series race and she is excited about returning. Shawna Robinson and the No. 49 BAM Racing Dodge team tested at Texas Motor Speedway last week and have endured their share of tough luck this season, but they are very confident that what they learned about the new granite-based pavement surface at Texas Motor Speedway will provide them with a baseline to properly set-up the car for qualifying and race conditions.
According to Robinson, "I really enjoy racing here. Texas is a very fast racetrack, kind of similar to Atlanta Motor Speedway. When Texas first opened it was bumpy and tough to pass on but now that it has been re-paved the track is faster and smoother and I believe the fans will see exciting side-to-side racing on Sunday."
"We're confident the No. 49 BAM Racing Dodge team will show measured improvement this weekend," stated Robinson. "We have a game plan in place to be consistent on Sunday and race 500 miles which is what we need to do as we progress as a new team in Winston Cup racing. Our goal for this weekend is to finish in the top-25 and regain the momentum we established at Daytona."
Bud Pole Qualifying for the Samsung/Radio Shack 500 takes place on Friday, April 5th, at 3:05 p.m. (CST). The green flag will drop on Sunday, April 7th at 1:00 p.m. (CST). The event will be televised live on Fox and broadcast live on PRN.
