Trevor Bayne and Corey Lajoie will pull double duty this weekend
CONCORD, N.C. – Two Ford Racing development drivers – Trevor Bayne and Corey LaJoie will have an opportunity to display their skills at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.
Bayne, 23, will make his debut in the No. 6 Ford this weekend – the flagship car of Roush Fenway Racing by the legendary Mark Martin. It will be Bayne’s 56th career Cup start. He has one Cup win, the 2011 Daytona 500 with the venerable Wood Brothers, one top five and three top 10 finishes.
Bayne is sixth in the Nationwide Series point standings. He’s competed with Roush Fenway Racing since the 2010 Kansas Speedway race. Veteran crew chief Bob Osborn will oversee the Cup effort.
LaJoie will also pull double duty this weekend at Charlotte. He will make his second career Cup start in the Bank of America 500 with Randy Humphrey Racing. LaJoie, who turned 23 last month, will pilot the No. 77 Ford on Saturday and the No. 98 Medallion Ford in the Nationwide Series race on Saturday night.
LaJoie has three NNS starts. His career-best finish of 16th came in the No. 98 Biagi-DenBenste Ford at Kentucky Speedway in June. LaJoie is also scheduled to run at Texas and Homestead.
